Race Report 14 August 2021 – Zwartkops Race Extreme Festival
1st in Class B in hat was an icy cold weekend that even saw the Polar bears staying indoors.
Friday the 13th and to top it off at freezing point as it will have it, and not being overly superstitious took the car out for session 1 practice. Icy air temperature allowed me to put the Shield Golf immediately into the low 13’s which was good enough for me not to tempt fate and park the car for Saturday qualifying. Quickly we put the car on trestles, fitted some new rubber for qualifying and found my way with the rest of the non-superstitious racing folk to some restaurant for warmth and a lunch.
Saturday Race day
Saturday morning was no warmer and fortunately qualified at 9.30 .
Qualifying saw me dial in a 13 ,6 which was good enough for me and put me 1st in class B .
Race 1 & 2 me finish 1st in class on the day and being blessed with some Silverware
Overall standing in the combined championship – laying shared 4th & 1ST In Class B
