SA’s Premium Automotive & Lifestyle Expo
IDLE AUTO EXPO (IAE), powered by SHIELD CAR CARE, was a celebration of lifestyle and experience where the most innovative came together to showcase their automotive passion. We brought you a two-day automotive expo that assembled an array of leading automotive & lifestyle exhibitors from all over the country. They networked with like-minded enthusiasts and showcased their latest vehicles, products, services, and offerings ranging from OEM & aftermarket retail, accessories, performance, ice (in-car entertainment), gaming, clothing (streetwear) to mancave goodies and much more. The event was hosted at the 13,000sqm Montecasino events area, one of SA’s premier family entertainment venues, which boasted a footfall of over 9 million per annum.
What was new in 2024?
- Automotive night market – This year, we started the Saturday show at 12pm and ran it until 9pm because, for the first time in SA, we hosted a night market with entertainment specifically for the automotive scene. The night market started from 6pm-9pm on the Saturday only, and our exhibitors offered crazy discounts on products/services for that time only. There was also a buzz of entertainment on our main stage. Your Saturday tickets included entry into the night market, so it was best to book your tickets early as they were limited for this experience!
- R20,000 worth of prizes to be won – the aim for 2024 was to offer more automotive-focused activities for our spectators where they could win fantastic giveaways from leading brands in the industry. For our 2023 event, we gave away R20,000 worth of prizes to lucky spectators over the weekend, and that year, we planned to give away even more.
- The hype was real – as we planned ahead, we were busy adding more value-added activities for our spectators, so it was advisable to keep an eye on our socials (links below) for all the hype leading up to the event.
What you could expect during the weekend:
- Race car, drag car, custom bike & custom car display areas.
- A DJ entertained the crowds throughout the weekend and presented many giveaways to the visitors on stage.
- Wrapmasters: vehicle wrapping contest, to see how fast you could wrap a vehicle part!
- Motor mouth: thought you could replicate your favourite car’s exhaust tone with your mouth?
- Cram my ride: How many people could fit in our car in front of media and spectators.
- GT challenge: sim racing at its best. Competed for an awesome prize!
- Street dance battle: both days were a hype with professional freestylers battling it out for ultimate bragging rights.
- Burger eating contests: the fastest spectator to eat a chilli burger won!
