Shield Golf Racing Report 2022 Season

2ND in Class B 7th Overall in 111 Series
Firstly, a big thank you to the Shield team and my family for the ongoing support during 2022.
Motorsport as we have all come to realise is a sport compiled of multiple facets to be successful in a season and more often or not a bit of good luck is required if you are going to stand on the top level of the podium, which was our case in 2021 winning the Clubman’s Championship Overall. Unfortunately, 2022 threw the Shield Golf some curve balls with a DNS at Phakisa midway in the season because of a blown head gasket. Phakisa carries double points being an away race and made it difficult to claw back during the season even though wining a few races leading up to the recent event at Zwartkop’s. The DNS allowed Roland Hopkins to get one back on me taking Class B honours with a solid performance throughout the year and 2nd in the Overall standings a point or 2 behind Adrian Dalton winner in Class A and the Overall Championship – well done guys!
The Shield Golfs have been but on trestles and will be dusted off and worked on in early January to find new performance & better handling for the next season which should kick off in February 2023.
Ilumina 24 Hour – Shield driver part of winnings team in the Xtra Clothing Golf
2022 was not all doom and gloom as I was asked to take up a drive in the Xtra Clothing and Shoes entry in the 24-hour Lumina race recently held at Red Star Raceway – the Xtra team managed to bring home a 1st place. What an event and Oh Boy does it take a lot of planning and testing of patience and personalities especially in the early hours of the morning with limited or no sleep.
Simply put this event is a character-building exercise of note.
Shield Golfs
Wishing you all an amazing and blessed festive season and look forward to flying the Shield flag in 2023.
